The Bangalore golf club can boast of being one of the oldest Clubs in India and has a history to match it.

At a meeting of gentlemen interested in the game of golf, held at the house of J.D.Gordon C.S.I the following gentlemen being present - J.D.Gordon Esq.C.S.I, Colonel Fulton, Major Chrystee, Dr. C.Smith, Dr Pearl, Mr P.Scott, Mr.Hudson and Rev. William A.Liston.It was resolved that a Golf Club be started in this station to be called the Bangalore Golf Club, the following gentlemen being members: J.D.Gordon Esq. C.S.I., Colonels Fulton, Mesham, Bell, Johnson; Major Chrystee; Captains Butler, Mackenzie, Storker; Lieut Burn; Doctors Smith, Henderson, Pearl, P.Scott Esq., A.Hudson Esq. and the Rev William A.Liston.Resolved that in accordance with Rule IV a voting paper be circulated amongst the members for the purpose of electing a Captain, Secretary and three members to form the managing committee.
