Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Bhangarh is a place between Jaipur and Alwar in Rajasthan state of India. Bhangarh is known for its ruins, but still worth a visit; the place is beautiful and tranquil. What remains though, is a shadow of a once beautiful kingdom. There are two legends narrated to the history of the fort city which is reported to be haunted and no one is allowed to remain the precincts of the fort at night. One version of the legend is that a sadhu named Baba Balanath lived within the fort area. It was his injunction that any houses built in the precincts of the fort should not be taller than his house and in case the shadow of any such house falling on his house would result in destruction of the fort town. In another version, Singhiya, the wizard who was adept in black magic fell in love with the Ratnavati, the princess of Bhangarh who was very beautiful and had suitors to marry her from many royal families of the country. One day while the princess, 18 years of age, went shopping with her friends and was buying Ittar (scent). The wizard saw this and replaced the scent with some potion in order to ensnare the princess. He offered the potion to her so that she took a liking for him and marry him. However, the princess saw through the wizard's trickery and when he offered her the bowl of potion, she threw it on a big boulder nearby and as a result the boulder started rolling down towards the wizard and crushed him. Before he died he cursed that Bhangarh would be destroyed soon and no one will be able to live within its precincts. Subsequent to the curse Bhangarh Fort was invaded by the Mughals from the north and the city was surrounded and sacked; 10,000 people lived in the fort city at that time. All the people in the fort including the princess were killed. The present state of the fort is attributed to the curse of the wizard and people believe the ghosts in the fort are that of the princess and the wizard. Since from that day at the night time there are some paranormal activities are said to take place, some people have reportedly died by these paranormal activities.

Dumas Beach, Surat, Gujarat

Dumas Beach, famous for its black sand is located along the Arabian Sea, 21 km South West of Surat in Gujarat. It is a popular tourist spot not only among the natives, but also among all those who visit the diamond city. Dumas beach is one of the most haunted placesin India. Hindus have a tradition of burning dead on the beach, plus spirits tend to be found more at places which are windy, and Dumas Beach is one of them. Especially at night, if you are walking towards the ocean, you'll hear noises in the wind which'll tell you not to go forward and go back. A number of tourists have been known to have disppeared while taking walks on the beach at night.  Dogs, who have a slightly wider spectrum to notice paranormal phenomena, behave weirdly around the ocean here, and cry at night. Many have been chased by dogs here, but locals say they are just running away from something else.

Brijraj Bhawan Palace, Kota, Rajasthan

Brijraj Bhawan Palace is located on the banks of river Chambla, Kota in Rajasthan at distance of 5 Kms from airport and 3 kms from Railway station. The 178 years old Brijraj Bhawan palace of the former princely family of Kota, which was converted into heritage hotel in 1980's has a resident ghost , Major Burton, who was serving as British Residence to kota, was killed by Indian sepoys during the 1857 Mutiny. The sepoy killed Major Burton and his two sons in the central hall of the building. The former Queen of Kota told British journalist that see use see Major Burton frequently, as room in which he was killed was being used as drawing room then. Major Burton dose not harm anybody, but during the night visit, if any of the guards are sleeping or dozing, Major Burton gives them a slap, with a warning in pidgin Hindustani.

Souza Chawl Mahim, Mumbai, Maharashtra

Souza Chawl is located near Canossa Primary School in Mahim, Mumbai. The Chawl has a well from which the people used to fill in water and wash clothes. The well was quite dangerous as it did not have any boundary walls around it. One day, while filling water a woman fell in the well as the whole structure around the well collapsed. The lady struggled for quite a time and then died a painful death. After this unpleasant incident, the locals, especially the residents of the Chawl believe that the lady is seen every night near the well. Many people have spotted the apparition of a lady, speculated to be the ghost of the unfortunate woman, in the vicinity of the well during the nights. This has been reported multiple times. She appears near the well every night, wanders around, and then eventually disappears by the dawn. Even though the apparition is believed to be harmless, the residents of the Chawl are advised to keep at bay from the well especially during the nights.

Dow Hill Kurseong, Darjeeling, West Bengal

Kurseong is a hill station situated in Darjeeling state of West Bengal,one of the most haunted places in India.Locally known as Kharsang, it means “Land of the White Orchids in Lepcha language. Kurseong is also called the Good Castle by the Tibetans. Countless numbers of paranormal behaviors and murders are reported near the dark, strange and haunted forests. There have been numerous murders in the hills of this hill station. Locals have reported strange sightings, footsteps in their homes and mysterious activity. people have seen woman running in the dark with grey clothes with very fast speed. After dark no one goes there Every time someone is looking at you in the forest. People hear screams of women in the dark. They have seen red eyes in the dark.They hear children noises and sometimes they feel someone is abusing them. Woodcutters have reported to have seen a headless body of a boy. walking on the road and then disappearing in the trees. The ghost walks down the road and then slips into the woods. People here have reported to have an uncanny, depressive feeling. But the fact remains the same,this depressive feeling leads to too many suicides.

The Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune

Pune is one of the largest city in Maharashtra state of India after Mumbai. It is renowned for itsculture, educational institutions, job opportunities, that attracts students and people migrating from all over India and abroad and the historical places, like,Sinhgad fort, Parvati, Sarasbag , Aga khan palace,PataleshwarCaves temple and Shanirwada fort. It is said that full moon nights are very much haunted in Shaniwarwada. There is a story behind this, according to an old story this fort  is haunted by a prince.He was assassinated brutally, when he was 13 by the order of one of his relative. His assassins chased him all across the fort, the boy started yelling again and again, Kaka, mala vachva! (Marathi Waord means Uncle, save me!) and even today locals say that they hear his cries for help at midnight on every new moon day. The fort was largely destroyed itself in fire in1828, but, the survived structure are now maintained as a tourist site.

Vrindavan Society, Thane

Vrindavan Society in Thane West, which was once considered to be in the outskirts of Mumbai is one of the most popular housing societies in Thane. It is said when someone commits suicide, his soul does not get peace. Most ghost sightings are of people who died a violent death or who committed suicide. One such case is of Building number 66B in Vrindavan, Thane. A man had jumped off the building and now his ghost reportedly haunts the place. The security guards patrolling the area have come across weird happenings. Once a guard was slapped so hard that he got up from his chair and hit the other guard who was nearby him thinking he was the one who hit him.

Agrasen ki Baoli, Delhi

Ancient Indians used to build water temples as well as earliest forms of step wells and reservoirs. Few exquisite examples of single-flight step wells still exist in Delhi today. The oldest existing Baoli - the Anangtal Baoli in Mehrauli, Delhi, was built in the 10th century by the Rajput King Anang Pal II of Tomar Dynasty. The Baoli had water till recent times, but now it has dried up and one can see the bed of the reservoir, full of bird feathers and droppings. The gradual increase in the gurgling sound of pigeons, and squeaky chatter of bats echoing off the stone walls makes this place creepy. There are rumors of evil sprits in this ancient architecture since quite some time. As per the claims, the Baoli was earlier fill with filthy Black water which attracted mostly disheartened, discouraged and depressed admirers with magnetic effects. The fatal attraction of the mystic waters hypnotized people to their death by alluring them to jump in the waters. It is believed that the "Baoli of the unseen", used to call for people to offer their lives and raise its water levels. The occurance of supernatural activities and existence of the evil one is controversial and has been debated every now and then. The loud and shrill cry of the bats definitely add up to the evil reputation of the Baoli, and may play a role in increasing eeriness inside the monument. Some believe that the haunted tales are a myth, while some claim to be eye witness to these shocking stories. The mystic architecture definitely needs your visit. According to some people this church is a haunted church.It is said that long time ago there were 3 Portuguese kings living in Goa. They often used to fight to gain power in the land but they were tied by the Portuguese diplomacy between rulers policy.one of the kings (king Holger Alvunger) one day invited the other two kings in his place and poisoned them to death.he himself fell out with the public and commited suicide by consuming poison.king holgers place is the current 3 kings church in Goa, where there have been reports of sightings and general unrest.

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), Bangalore

After capacity constraints, connectivity hurdles and criticism from all and sundry over shabby infrastructure, there is now a problem quite without precedent at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA). Rumours have been doing the rounds for the past week that airport staff have been seeing ghosts on the runway. The description of the ghost has been varied: its gender, attire and features all change, depending on who sees it. A few claim that the ghost is a woman in a white saree, while others say the mysterious creature is headless. A Kingfisher employee who works at the Cargo section told to this website's newspaper that the ghost, a woman in a white saree with her hair flying loose, has been wandering on the runway. He said this saree-clad ghost had disrupted flight movements. A pilot of an international carrier had to abort landing after spotting a woman with outstretched hands in the middle of the runway. Finally, after two failed attempts, when the woman did not move from the runway, the pilot could only land in his third attempt, he said. Several employees say another ghost, a headless creature, was spotted near the escalators in the terminal area and in the parking bays. A photograph of the ghost is also said to have been captured on an infra-red camera by an employee.

GP Block, Meerut

Meerut is a metropolitan city situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, Hindi and Urdu languages spoken here. This GP Block although not well known but is to be found one of the most haunted areas in the city's history. It has a very unique and strange type of haunted story. This GP Block reported corresponds to a double storey apartment which is deserted and without any residence. People have claimed to see the spirit of a woman sitting on the roof and others have added to see women wearing red clothes getting in and out of the house. It has been always seen that four men sitting inside the house around a table with a single candle lighted in the centre, and having alcohol. It happens to be most common sight for people passing through that area but few people also added that even they seen the men sitting on the rooftop. The scenes keep repeating all over the house. The house has remained locked for as long as people in the area can't remember. People don't tell all these as apparition too. These are clearer than that. People generally avoid that route stretch lying in the front of the house, and today no one passes by the unidentified yet haunted place.

Writer's Building, Kolkata

The writer here doesn't mean the literary personalities, it used to be the junior servants (the clerical and administrative staff) residing in the building. So, it was named Writer's Building. Today it is the secretariat building of the State Government of West Bengal. It is a massive red color building situated at the BBD square of Kolkata which is the heart of the city. There are various gigantic rooms in the building vacant from years suspected to be haunted. Various stories claim that these unoccupied / vacant rooms are spooky and ghosts dwell in here. none of the officials in the building stays here after dusk. the nearby vendors have reported sounds of someone crying late at night.

South Park Street Cemetery, Kolkata

The graves mostly bear British names in this cemetery. Opinions on whether it is haunted or not remain mixed. You'll not experience other-worldly when visiting the cemetery, which was built in 1767. Park Street then was on the periphery of the city and was a suitable place for a graveyard. I've never come across a ghost," said the guard. It did not take long to find someone who had. I went to the cemetery with a couple of friends in August 2007. We were wandering around, clicking photos. When we checked the photo a few days later, I saw a weird shadow in front of the lens shaped like a fist. Loads of people have tampered with photos, but this is for real. It wasn't any of our arms," one eye-witness said. That was just the beginning. "Weird things started happening to us after we stepped out of the cemetery. I blacked out and started vomiting in the middle of the street. The guy who clicked the photo had an asthmatic attack at the same time and he's not even asthmatic! There were more problems but I can't talk about them for personal reasons," according to him.
